España está loco!!! (Spain is crazy)
February 7, 2023
Hola todos (Hello everyone)!!!! I actaully have time this week to write an Email. As a missionary you are super busy but I have been able to keep up so that is nice. Spanish is still a struggle and will be for a while longer but I can tell that it is improving pero muy lento (but very slow).
I thought that when I got here it would be super slow as in finding people to teach and stuff but it actually really isn't the case. A lot of the population here is from South America so that is really cool. I've probably only talked to a total of 10 people that are actually from Spain.
The architect here is kinda crazy. I am in Zaragoza for my first transfer and there is a castle and the bus we take to get to the church goes by it so we get to see it basically every day. Another crazy thing about here is everything is so small and packed but I am getting used to it.
Vale, we have about 5 people that we are teaching right now and they all seem to be taking the lessons really well so that is awesome. One person that I have been contacting for the past few days speaks Romanian and a little bit of Spanish so that has been interesting.
2 days ago we were able to go to a smaller city in our zone called Huesca. There is a small group of members there but the city has a lot of potential the the two sets of missionaries in our piso (flat/apartment), el obispo (the bishop), ward mission leader, first counselor (also ex missionary), Ernesto (return missionary) went to Huesco and street contacted for an hour and a half which was super fun. With all of us combined we got about 12 numbers and one of the people went to church yesterday 😇
Anyway I think that is about it. Till next week 😁
-Cool building in Huesca
-La Capilla
-Castle
Garrett gives us more detail on his phone calls than he does in his emails so I (Jill Hale, a.k.a. Mom) will add more info. The "castle" he sees every day in Spain is called the Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of Pillar. It is actually a Roman Catholic Church.
The cool building in Huesca is call the Circulo Oscense. It houses a casino and a very nice Michelin Star restaurant.
